Tickets and tours worth booking ahead
What sells out, what is cheaper online, and what to just show up for.
Most Korean sights do not need advance tickets. A few do, and several are noticeably cheaper when booked online.
Book ahead
- DMZ tours: require passport details in advance and sell out on weekends. Only possible on a guided tour.
- Nami Island + Petite France + Garden of Morning Calm day trips: a full day from Seoul, far easier by tour bus than by train and local bus.
- Everland and Lotte World: online tickets are routinely cheaper than the gate price.
- Hanbok rental near Gyeongbokgung: popular shops book up on weekends; wearing hanbok gets you free palace entry.
- Busan–Seoul KTX: foreign-card issues on the official site make a booking platform convenient. Trains rarely sell out except on holidays.
Cheaper online
- N Seoul Tower observatory, Lotte World Tower Seoul Sky, COEX Aquarium, Han River cruises.
- Jeju attractions and rental cars — Jeju is a driving island.
Just show up
- Royal palaces (Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung — except the Secret Garden tour, which has limited slots).
- Bukchon Hanok Village, Insadong, Myeongdong, Hongdae, Gwangjang Market, Haeundae Beach.
- Temples, parks, Han River bike rental.
