Jeonju
Hanok Village, the home of bibimbap, and the best night food street in Korea.
Jeonju is where Koreans go to eat. Its Hanok Village has 700 traditional houses, hanbok rental on every corner, and bibimbap restaurants that have been open for generations.
Getting there
KTX from Yongsan (Seoul) to Jeonju Station, about 1 h 45 min, then a 10-minute taxi to the Hanok Village. Express buses from Seoul also run every 10–20 minutes.
Must-do
- Jeonju Hanok Village: rent hanbok, walk the lanes, climb to Omokdae for the rooftop view.
- Jeondong Cathedral and Gyeonggijeon shrine.
- Bibimbap at a traditional restaurant and Jeonju-style makgeolli served with a table of side dishes.
- Nambu Market night market on Friday and Saturday evenings.
- Choco pie from the famous bakery (PNB).
